Decisions Concerning the Annual Meeting 2021

The American Baptist Churches of Maine’s Executive Committee voted on September 11, 2021 to cancel the in-person Annual Meeting that had been scheduled to convene at Sugarloaf.  They voted in its stead to hold a virtual meeting.  The Annual Meeting Committee will meet soon and work out the details surrounding our virtual Annual Meeting for 2021.  The decision to move to a virtual setting is difficult.  The Executive Committee has watched the growing Covid-19 infection rates rise in Maine and the uncertainty concerning vaccination efficacy against the Delta variant.  The age of those who attend our Annual Meeting places our folks in the “danger” zone.  Yet, there is a longing for the ABCOM family to meet, to worship, and to be in fellowship with God and with each other.

Therefore, the Executive Committee has instructed our office to cancel our in-person Annual Meeting at Sugarloaf and to reformulate the content and business of the Annual Meeting to a virtual setting, the details of which will be announced. Please continue to look for updates concerning this event.

Thank you for your gracious understanding and for your patience as we work through this unprecedented time in our history.  The present Executive Committee has had to make decisions that no other ABCOM Executive Committee has had to make.  They have wrestled with unique circumstances and extraordinary conditions.  The same can be said for our local church pastors and leaders.  We have been called for such a time as this….. God’s continued blessings on you and your church’s leadership and the American Baptist Churches of Maine.

Pastors, please share this information with your local church and local delegates.
